Introduction

ALEPH Logo

ALEPH is an Application LayEr for Parallel H-matrices. Based on PHI it implements finite elements and boundary element methods for solving the partial differential and integral equations.

Features

  • 1D, 2D and 3D volume and surface grids
  • bilinearforms for
    • Laplace equation in 1D, 2D and 3D (FEM)
    • single- and double-layer-potential in 3D (BEM)
  • Gauss quadrature rules for 1D-3D
  • output of grids and solutions to postscript, VRML and X11 (by PHI)
  • clustertree generation by binary space paritioning (cardinality or geometrically balanced) or by space-filling curves
  • low-rank approximation by SVD and adpative cross approximation (ACA)
  • domain decomposition for FEM, grid decomposition by space-filling curves

Supported computer systems

The list of computers and operating systems known to work with ALEPH is identical with the list of PHI, namely

  • Linux (x86, Opteron, Itanium, PowerPC, Alpha) with GCC, Intel-CC,
  • Sun Solaris with GCC and Sun-CC,
  • HP-UX (PA-RISC) with HP-CC (aCC),
  • AIX with IBM Visual-Age C++ and
  • IRIX with mips-cc.
